Gillian McDonough
Chief Officer
Gillian has been our Chief Officer since August 2000 and has overall responsibility for managing and developing the work of the VCAS on behalf of the Executive Board. In doing so, her role is to implement the strategic aims and objectives of the organisation and to support the Director Trustees to enable them to fulfil their governance functions.
Additionally, to give direction and leadership towards the achievement of the Charities Mission, Vision and Strategy.
Key areas include:
Management, Leadership & Strategy, Strategic Partnership Representation and Liaison, Finance & Fundraising and Facilities Management to name but a few.

Trish Cornish
Deputy Chief Officer
Trish is responsible for staff management and development within the organisation and is also the point of contact for Procurement and Commissioning work. Trish offers support and development support by; working with existing and emerging organsiations, actively supporting and promoting networking within the sector and developing cross sector partnerships including VCS representation.
In addition Trish works strategically to raise the profile of the Voluntary and Community Sector and to provide a voluntary sector perspective.

Mary Pattinson
Voluntary Sector Support Officer - Funding
Mary is responsible for all aspects relating to Funding. Her role is to work with the all VCS groups and organizations, no matter how large or small in size. Her role is to provide a 360o approach to funding starting from a potential project idea, right through to ongoing support once funding has been received and everything in between.

Rob Charlton
Voluntary Sector Support Officer - Workforce Development
Rob is responsible for assessing the workforce development needs of the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) in Sunderland and in doing so, undertakes an annual needs assessment to enable the delivery of our first class training programme throughout the year. All efforts are made to bring in training from outside the area, local, regional and national which otherwise may not happen. In addition to the dedicated service in Sunderland, Rob also leads on the Coordination of Training across the VCS in Tyne & Wear, working in partnership with our neighboring CVS and other Infrastructure partners to add value for a robust training package to the sector. Aside to the annual training programme VCAS also design and deliver bespoke training packages for the sector.
Part of Rob’s role is to assist groups with developmental support, this can include governing document design, implementation and amendments, skills auditing, strategic planning, action planning, meeting procedures (AGM & SGM) and offers on-site support and coaching for committee members.

Audrey Thompson
Voluntary Sector Support Officer - Communications
Audrey is responsible for looking after the Voluntary and Community Sector Directory and the VCAS membership system. Other responsibilities providing administrative support for VCAS and our accredited training program, communications within the voluntary and communications sector, meeting and greeting at the front of house at VCAS and answering the busy switchboard.
