About this deal

Incredible Adaptive Audio that follows the action - Experience epic sound AI Adaptive sound on your 4K Ultra HD Smart TV that changes to match the content you are watching or game you are playing for a truly immersive audio experience. Richer Sounds Ltd (Registered company address: Richer House, Gallery Court, Hankey Place, London, SE1 4BB. It's also equipped with voice assistant technology, meaning you can connect an account for Alexa or Google Assistant home technology without the need of an extra device. A simple system that has the ability to work in perfect harmony, by synchronising TV speakers and soundbar together to play sound simultaneously from both devices. Low input lag is measured based on internal testing conditions and it is subject to change according to game setting or the source device.

Its speakers are severely short of volume and projection (especially versus the Toshiba 50UK4D63DB), and produce a much less dynamic mid-range. Adaptive Sound is decent, but I found Amplify improved the loudness of the TV, although its impression of dynamism is on the weaker side. party content providers may remove apps from the Smart TV platform or stop updating them at any time. This is something of a mixed blessing this year, since while the revamped interface still plays host to a colossal amount of content including all the world’s favourite streaming services, the new full-screen home menu doesn’t do a great job of highlighting genuinely useful content, and isn’t as customisable or logical in its navigation – especially when it comes to integrating the TV’s set-up options – as the previous interface was. Dive right into your favourite TV shows, movies, sporting events and more, with a generous abundance of streaming platforms and live TV channels available to watch at your convenience.Like a symphony orchestra, your Samsung TV can collaborate in synergy with your soundbar to deliver amazing surround sound. It's even smart enough to harvest electricity from Wi-Fi network radio frequencies in your home, so you'll never need disposable batteries again.

Teamed with this, the TV has Samsung’s new Smart Hub, which puts content curation and discovery at the fore. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH).Connectivity includes three HDMIs and two USBs, but gamers should note that there’s no support for 4K/120Hz graphics (the screen only runs at 50/60Hz), or VRR. This is felt – including in direct comparisons with similarly affordable rivals such as the Toshiba 50UK4D63DB and TCL 55C735K – with both full-screen bright HDR content and its slightly lacklustre look to brightness peaks. The quality doesn't end there however, as 4K UHD resolutions are applied to every image courtesy of cutting-edge 4K Upscaling technology. Samsung’s obsession with slimness carries over to its Crystal UHD series, as the UE65BU8000 has a depth of 25. If you really want to take things to the next level, pair your TV with a compatible speaker or soundbar and activate the integrated Samsung Q-Symphony technology.

I measured brightness at a lowly 277 nits in Standard mode on a 5% HDR window (337 nits on a 10% window), with the Dynamic mode offering the best performance at 334 nits. One last issue of note is that the BU8000 doesn’t look as sharp with native 4K content as we would normally see with Samsung TVs. That said, dialogue clarity is good and intelligible, and it has a decent grasp of detail: the creaks and groans of an abandoned village in The Rings of Power are nicely realised. Plus, it's also been consciously crafted from eco-friendly resin, so you're helping support a more sustainable future. And as the latter is still available for less money than the BU8000, I’d pitch that TV as a better alternative. Do also note that the BU8000 joins the BU8500 in not benefitting from the Ambient Mode feature found on all Samsung’s higher up models, whereby the screen can be set to play photographs, digitised artworks or short videos rather than leave behind a black screen when you’re not actually watching the TV.
