You can take a picture of a piece of text and read it with the device, but there's no way you can share the text with the app, so that you can have it on your iPhone. Using hand gestures or the touch bar, it is possible to stop reading, pause reading, or skim forward and backward through text. Simply ask for the text that interests you: “Read the headlines,” “Read amounts,” or “Start from” a specific section (like “desserts” in a menu).
Product names were problematic, because they are usually printed in unusual fonts OrCam can't recognize. I was able to pick up an envelope, hold the clear window of the envelope in front of me, tap OrCam's touch bar, Allow OrCam to take a picture, and then begin reading the text that was visible through the window. It is possible that I wasn't always looking in the right place, something that is always a possibility when using OrCam.

This is a golden age of free and low-cost adaptive technology that we're living in, sites like AppleVis exist to champion that. Quite frankly, there is nothing the MyEye does, as far as I can tell, that apps like Seeing AI can't do. For me there would be an additional cost for the lenses fitting, as they don't clip on like the Orcam. To be honest, I found it a bit awkward to hold money up to the camera and wait for OrCam to identify the bill in question. For the newly blind or individuals with physical or cognitive limitations that prevent them from using a touch screen mobile device, the MyReader and MyEye are excellent ways to answer the question: "What is this?Important to note: the device does not come with a built-in screen; connectivity is drawn from computers, laptops, and tablets—smartphones are not currently supported due to their small size.
