About this deal

million copies in the UK alone and their 2003 follow-up A Present for Everyone came very close to matching it. In that song’s chorus lyric ‘Where d’ya go, I’d be lost without you / It’s crazy, time moves slow / I ain’t seen you on the TV lately’, they all deliver the vocal with feeling and there’s a sense that in this version of the song, they’ve communicated the problems that ended their juggernaut of success so abruptly and got closure on that time to move forward to this new chapter. With 9 tracks out of 10 having been jointly written by all three members of the band – James Bourne, Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson – Half Way There feels like a real labour of love, combining personal lyrics and the sound the band is known for into an easy-listening album that reflects on Busted’s history, their present and their future – and if listeners find themselves singing along to choruses too, then so much the better. Even back when the pop-rock and pop-punk they were so mercenarily emulating, it was telling that Busted always remained firmly in the boyband territory; the sound wasn’t that far from the genuine article in the early 2000s, but both musicianship and lyricism that drew from territory spanning from base to outright stupid was always a heavy implication of the pop machinations behind the scenes to make that sound even more marketable. When the band Busted are mentioned it’s often hard to overlook their pop-enthused radio-friendly rock hits of the early 2000s which dominated the airwaves and captured an entire generation’s hearts.

With the talk that Charlie's been writing some Fightstar material recently, I'm hoping that next year, Busted will take a break to allow him to focus on that. The album's title is a reference to a lyric in Busted's 2003 single " Year 3000": " Everybody bought our seventh album / It had outsold Michael Jackson". There are some utterly delicious moments in the human experience that can’t quite be accounted for in words alone: bare feet sinking into gloriously soft shagpile carpet, the smell of bacon frying on a Sunday morning, and the sound of your favourite band or artist releasing the album they were born to make. As good as Night Driver was as an album and it showed a totally different style to Busted than we was used to, Half Way there, is truly the Busted we know and love. Ticket’s for the extra dates will go on pre-sale on Wednesday 6 th February at 9am and on general sale on Friday 8 th February at 10am.I cannot wait for fans to hear this record and to be able to talk to them on social media about it,” says Willis. Today Busted release new album Half Way There and it moves away from the cooler, synth-pop feel of Night Driver and revisits the rebellious punk-pop hybrid the band explored on their first two albums. Obligatory comment about how Fightstar are way better, and Charlie needs to do more Fightstar stuff. Busted’s forthcoming arena dates introduce their new touring drummer, Eddy Thrower from modern rock heroes Lower Than Atlantis.

Opening in low-key fashion, the track erupts into life by taking us back to the era of Smashing Pumpkins and Macaulay Culkin and the carefree “days of ditching school to watch The Goonies. Though this isn’t an easy listen, Body Void’s newest journey into the abyss yields a shrieking, industrial mutation of doom-metal that couldn’t fit into the blackness around them more perfectly. In conclusion this is a band who have made amends, not only with themselves but also their sound – Night Driver was an important venture into the wild and shone brightly in places but the trio have found their path, reigniting their desire, chemistry and talent to produce an album that will catch a lot of people of guard, and one that will define them all the way to the year 3000. Simpson adds, “It still has humorous elements and we’re still having a lot of fun, but we have some very poignant songs too.Ahead of the album release Busted teased fans with the release of tracks Nineties, Reunion, All My Friends and Radio but the first official single, Radio, didn’t arrive until last month. Busted are a totally schooling in lazy formulaic songwriting in ‘Half Way There’ and sometimes it’s funny and sometimes it’s charming but mostly it’s just annoying. The track "What Happened to Your Band" was previously performed live by one of James Bourne's other bands, Son of Dork back in 2007. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.

It’s quickly followed by the twice-previously recorded (by Bourne’s band Son of Dork and by McBusted for their self-titled album) ‘ What Happened To Your Band’ about the band’s split, which is given a new lease of life amidst this album of stylistic throwbacks and retro Busted vibes to become one of the album’s stand-out tracks. AltCorner is the promotional platform for alternative music, documenting upcoming artists and established alternative acts. People might think they do, but given that the entire purpose of Busted is and was always to get those nostalgia glands throbbing, it’s not exactly a reliable conclusion to draw.or strips away any deeper conversation surrounding climate change or the state of the world on Race To Mars.
