Though you may find yourself, as I did, skimming over more than a few redundant character conversations or internal debates.Intricate Plot Weaving: Zahn masterfully weaves multiple plot threads together, creating a tapestry of interconnected storylines that build tension and anticipation. Very soon now we’ll begin the process of taking planets back from the Rebellion; and for that we’ll need an army every bit as well trained as the officers and crew of the Fleet. Because of that, I do believe this is the weakest of the three books (I might change that after rereading book 3, but I'm pretty sure my memory is correct that this is the weakest). Han and Lando meanwhile head off to find one of the founders of the original Rebel Alliance and old commander Garm Bel Iblis and in classic fashion he refuses to help (apparently he has a strong dislike of Mon Mothma) but then he and his fleet arrive in the middle of the final space battle to tip the odds in grand fashion.

Character Evolution: The book provides significant character development for familiar faces like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia. The actual main plot of the book revolves around the mysterious Katana Fleet, a group of 200 Dreadnaught-class space cruisers that had vanished many years ago in a hyper-space jump gone wrong. Pero debo decir que un enemigo así es mucho mejor que el clásico villano, que siempre da menos juego.Zahn has a few annoying "tics" to his writing, such as unusual dialogue choices made by nearly every character (imagine that you're writing a story about people from all over the world, and every character who isn't a bad guy says "y'all" and "fixin' to") and the insistence on describing every lightsaber ignition as snap-hiss, but I can generally ignore those and simply enjoy the story. After their adventure with C’baoth Luke and Mara Jade infiltrate the ship posing as TIE fighter pilots and rescue Karrde, the trio escaping on the Millennium Falcon, which Thrawn had captured at some point. There are also some fun scenes with Thrawn and his bodyguard Rukh, where the latter’s undying loyalty is soon at odds with what the rest of his Noghri race do. The number of ships available could tip the tide of the war in favor of the side that discovers the location and retrieves the ships.
