About this deal

The middle of Not Nice is dedicated to helping us understand the importance of setting healthy boundaries. I'm not looking for coursework, I wanted a focused, deep analysis of people pleasing and how this author has helped other people overcome it. Probably the most valuable aspect of the book was the permission it gives to be "not nice" when it comes to getting your own needs and desires met.

I appreciate that it's pretty straightforward and yes almost cliche, but it still easily held my attention. Jenna will help Aiden with opening up around other people in exchange for a donation to the family pumpkin patch.Fantastic book, really helpful and insightful and not boring to read, the Author is fantastic and upbeat and it's making alot of sense to me! I am personally a very empathic person and would usually care that other people are feeling great in my presence. I am working on these aspects with this book and I am starting to see some progress, although it is uncomfortable along the way.

Other thoughts, it’s 60 % in and h mentions that H hasn’t given her one indication he’s remotely interested in her or even is attached to her and I just realized he hasn’t either. This book addresses things like that (though sometimes not as extreme) and is a great read for people who always seem to put others first. However, until this book, I simply had no clue about the psychological and emotional damage that a lifetime of cultural, social, and religious indoctrination will do. If you ever feel the slightest bit of responsibility for anybody else's feelings, move this book to the top of your list. But things are about to get worse at her new school, when the formidable bully Demelza Rice and her Demelzites start gunning for her. However, the conversational style and author’s humor make this book very easy to read and not overwhelming.

I do wish it could have gotten a little more intimate with Aidan and Jenna or have more pages about their relationship starting. The book addresses all the issues being faced just for the sake of being "nice" to people around you. There were several great scenes set at the patch, with Jenna and Aidan and with the whole Peterson crew. Gazipura provides practical advice on how to set boundaries, assert oneself, and cultivate genuine self-confidence. I sincerely began this book with excitement, but as I got through the first quarter of it, that excitement dwindle. An assertiveness workbook is ideal for those who find themselves in situations where they wish they were empowered to say what they want without unreasonably damaging relationships.
