About this deal

Traditional tongue construction the best bit, offering nice, pleasant and distraction-less fit as well as bit enough room for adjustment The Adidas Copa Sense is a juxtaposition of a boot. It feels both steeped in nostalgia and very modern. Leather is the footballing boot equivalent of vinyl – old tech that may have lost its popularity but still harnesses a cult-like fan base that swears by its eternal qualities. Like its musical counterpart, it’s slowly losing its appeal on a younger generation due to the influx of new synthetic boots and flashier options.

When it comes to width, they offer an accommodating fit. I wore them in my natural size and the length was pretty spot on, if you like a little extra room then I might consider going up a half size. Performance On Foot Laceless Plus like a child of Copa 20+ and X Speedflow+; skin tight feel with super comfortable forefoot, in addition to the tiptoeiness of a speed boot Senseframe has enough traction for change of direction; heel counter is strong and stable; not sure if Softstuds work as intended for ball control Some people live and die by the old ways. Case in point, vinyl records. Those who love vinyl swear by them and claim that MP3s can never beat the nice warm sound that emanates from the age old tech. It’s an experience that only the enlightened can appreciate, they say.

FAQs about the Copa Pure:

Objectively, the adidas Copa Sense .1 is an excellent boot. This one of the best fitting boots available in the market, let alone among the adidas stable. It’s a very elegantly designed football boot and is an improvement, aesthetically. But, there is something different about these, something a lot more positive that gives them greater appeal to players on a set budget. In other words, I’m here to tell you that they are misunderstood and underappreciated. Here is why you should at least give them a chance. Get Past The Visuals!

The fit is also much improved given the new dynamic of the Fusionskin and triple foam, plus the removal of the Sensepods that really took some time for some to get used to. Speaking of Sensepods, you might need to give the new Copa some time to break-in for you to avoid getting blisters. The Sensepods constantly rub against your heel, so be sure to give it some time to get accustomed to the new sensation. In terms of playability, I found them to be ideal for wear right out of the box. There isn’t a whole lot of break-in time needed seeing as they entire construction of the boot is geared toward allowing your foot to naturally move inside a pliable shell. Even the soleplate has a natural bend that doesn’t hinder comfort in any way. One of my favorite pieces of these boots is that calf skin upper. It is super pliable, stitched in where the cut line makes a V across the fore forefoot. Tongue on the .1 is still the same-stretchy and has an extended width to wrap the top of your foot and to stay in place adidas named the boot “Sense” in a bid to “to deliver an enhanced feel andoptimum touch for the wearer”. On paper, that is what all leather boots strive to do as they all provide an elegant and cushioned touch on the ball. adidas’ approach to this is somewhat different and can be seen in these 3 features – TOUCHPODS, SENSEPODS and SOFTSTUDS.Despite this downward trend, brands still keep their line of leather boots within their ranks to point to their storied past and display their long history within the boot category. This explains why adidas still produces the adidas Copa Mundial, one of the legendary leather boots from the 70s. However, it is increasingly difficult to market the Copa Mundial and their leather boots to a generation that has never even experienced a proper leather boot like an adidas Predator from the 90s to early 2000s. The firm ground (FG) studs don’t pose too much of a problem for me on artificial ground (AG) and receives our seal of approval for dual FG/AG purposes. There is no stud pressure on AG and it provides sufficient traction without digging too deep into the ground. A very good boot built for Gen Z

I first thought that the entire boot was covered in a thin layer of leather but I had come to find out that only the forefoot is made from leather. Look closely at the photo above and you’ll notice a different texture and grain between the forefoot and the midfoot. Not the widest, can be worn by wide feet but be prepared to have an intimate relationship with the upper Price difference between the + and .1 might be a too much if you’re just after getting that added snug fit The switch to Torsionframe from the Senseframe is a good point as it makes the Copa Pure lighter than its immediate predecessor. What you really get is a thin layer of leather pressed onto knit and foam which explains how adidas managed to have leather produce a wavy embossed effect all across that upper. We’ve had the Copa Sense .1 on feet Looking at the instep, you will find a feature made synonymous on boots like the Nike CTR360 range; a TOUCHPOD. Oh, how I enjoy a little extra padding along the instep. It is a high touch area that, somewhere you can claim an extra clean touch on the ball and really take an advantage over your opponent. Having it available on a mid-tier release makes for a huge bonus. Retail Details After 2 solid years with the adidas Copa 19/20, the Three Strips have revealed the successor to their leather boot in the form of the Copa Sense. A welcome update, the Copa Sense is an elegant boot that looks to improve on one of the most comfortable boots we’ve worn in recent years. Reinforcing overlay on the elastic Primeknit tongue is improved; has pieces of breaks that allow the Primeknit to stretch width-wise but not necessarily length-wise; good for providing enough midfoot compression and not being too restrictive As for the rest of the soleplate, I don’t have much issue with it. Yes, it’s slightly weighty but it’s one of adidas’ best looking ones available as the wave effect is evident across the tooling. It also carries a nice glossy finish which will painfully get tarnished after your first few minutes on the pitch so please enjoy the look while it lasts.

K-leather or not, it doesn’t matter for the Copa Pure as it is still meets the expected softness which bodes well for the comfort aspect. The triple foam lining not only helps make the boot feel padded and plush but also streamlines the sensation across the Fusionskin upper. As previously mentioned, I don’t think the SOFTSTUDS do much for me from a cushioning or ball trapping perspective. They do feel slightly rubbery to the touch but I doubt they will perform as advertised. They work just like any other studs on the soleplate. You’ll notice that 2 medial forefoot studs are coloured differently with a more coarse base compared to the rest of the plate. adidas calls them “SOFTSTUDS” and though they don’t feel much soft to the touch, they are intended to bend when receiving the ball, creating a cushion effect. Last but not least, the soleplate. I love how classy this new design is with the wavy design stretching to the heel area with the external heel counter. It also looks great out of the box with a glossy finish (on the + and the .1 variants) that will be certain to break your heart with scuff marks once you wear it on pitch. The stud patterns are pretty standard from adidas, mostly moon-shaped and semi-conical studs for a good mix of manoeuvrability and traction on FG and AG ground.

What is new with the Copa Sense?

Perhaps it's the moulded leather that makes it great for that or maybe it's the tight, comfortable fit that makes the ball more in tune with the different areas of your foot. We're no scientists but the shape of the boot – streamlined without feeling like a running shoe – is just perfect for passing.
