Capable of shooting in 6K ProRes RAW and ProRes 422HQ up to 60 frames per second and up to 120 frames per second in 4K, the Ronin 4D is no slouch in its video performance. At specific high frame rate thresholds, the camera will force a 2.39:1 aspect ratio. So the DJI Ronin 4D is a unique camera, but how good is its image quality? This is where DJI has taken another big leap forward.

In addition, X9 is equipped with an interchangeable lens mount design allowing connection to DJI’s proprietary DL mount, Leica M mount, and other mounts with short-flange focal distances. This provides cinematographers the opportunity to use ultra-large aperture lenses, anamorphic lenses, and vintage manual lenses, creating their desired style.

Original weight includes the Ronin 4D 6K Combo, Ronin 4D Video Transmitter, PROSSD Mount, PROSSD 1TB, and DL 24mm lens. DJI Ronin 4D and all accessories need to be activated via DJI Assistant 2 (Ronin Series). Before activating, make sure all devices that need activation have been mounted to DJI Ronin 4D, or it may not work properly due to inactivation of certain parts. Activation steps: Use the provided USB-A to USB-C data cable to connect the USB-C port above the storage card slot of the main body with a computer. Then, Launch DJI Assistant 2 (Ronin Series). Not all ranging points can reach 10 m. Outside 3 m, vertical FOV of the ranging point cloud will narrow, while the horizontal FOV is not affected.

Log in with your DJI account. Select Ronin 4D in DJI Assistant 2 (Ronin Series), and follow the steps to activate. During the activation, do not power off or disconnect the devices. Of course, we'll have to see if the Ronin 4D lives up to its grand promises (we're in the process of testing one now) and it won't suit everyone. On a typical handheld DJI stabilizer (other brands are available), the system counter-balances the camera's pan, tilt and roll movements with electronically-controlled motors. But something that isn’t properly accounted for in this set-up is the up-and-down motion that’s created by the operator when they walk, jog or run. The mount lets you attach some of your preferred lenses of choice (it's compatible with ones for DJI's DL Mount, Leica's M Mount and Sony's E-Mount), and there's the ability to record in Apple’s ProRes codec internally, including ProRes RAW. This gives filmmakers far more scope for image manipulation in post-production than other DJI cameras.
