The low point was probably five years ago when the much maligned Talisker Skye was first introduced at the height of the NAS era. On the palate now cask smokiness becomes very dominant, again very smoky and sweet, peppery and spicy. Talisker is now making its own foray into non-age statement whisky with the release of Talisker Storm Whisky. The smokiness of the whisky cuts through the richness of the cheese and the flavours of both are enhanced.

I’m not sure what “part of the quote” I “cropped” but, then again, I’m not sure who assumed Storm was really just the 10 with no age statement and the use of (some) re-charred ex-bourbon casks anyway. I'm guessing this is somewhere between 5-8 years old, as it just slightly lacks the depth of the classic 10. The 10 year old is best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to release the fruitier, floral notes. Dare I say, this would a wonderful pairing with some sort of cured meat, charcuterie starter with a big old wedge of melon. Back in 2013 however, the distillery began their first foray into a triplet of no-age-statement auxiliary whiskies.Some of the data that are collected include the number of visitors, their source, and the pages they visit anonymously. A loop in the pipes takes the vapour from the stills to the worm tubs, which causes some of the alcohol to condense before it reaches the cooler. There's a little coastal influence here too, just hints of a sweet Caol Ila perhaps, with very restrained smoke.

Additionally, the water used for production, from Cnoc nan Speireag (Hawk Hill), flows over peat which adds additional complexity to the whisky.
